GQ

There are lots of things that annoy me about Gordon Brown. The way he plays politics with the economy. The way his Government has overseen no improvement in social mobility. His support for an unjust and mindless war in Iraq. But I can’t say it has ever bothered me that he looks bad in a suit, a quality that GQ magazine has decided to highlight this month by placing Brown at the top of its list of worst dressed men in Britain.

Even for a style bible, it’s a strange thing to point out. After all, all politicians dress badly or blandly, and picking one over another — ludicrously, David Cameron is named the 8th best dressed man in Britain in the same edition — is like ranking footballers according to their cooking skills. But then this is GQ, edited for more than ten years by Dylan Jones, whose pro-Tory, anti-Labour campaign has been running for some years now.

And it really is a campaign…
